Soil Creeper Series

As I'm finishing up my 100 Days 100 Paintings series, I've begun to work on a new tree theme for a new series of paintings. Soil Creeping is when the ground expands and contracts due to weather changes. After years of this the soil begins moving downhill, exposing trees and forcing them to stand and grow up and off the ground leaving the roots exposed. Past my backyard stand a series of these "soilcreepers", lifting themselves off the ground through an entanglement of roots.
The first time I saw these trees I experienced an instant emotional connection: vulnerability, a reminder of a constant nightmare entangled within my mind, femininity, and the fight for strength.
